Jo Lake is a Business Development Fellow at Falmouth University, Cornwall, supporting research, innovation and knowledge exchange across the university’s creative and cultural disciplines. Her research interests include postmodernism, storytelling, place, landscape and creative practice, with a particular interest in the ways that women’s experiences and histories become embedded in place.
Jo’s practice-led research draws on literary and archival research alongside creative writing and psychogeographical approaches. Her current research explores women’s pain, memory and landscape in Cornwall, including her project Granite Bodies: Writing Women’s Pain into the Landscape of Bodmin. She has presented her research at national and international conferences and is developing further work exploring the relationship between place, heritage, storytelling and the female experience.
Jo holds an MA in Postmodern Fictions and a BA (Hons) in English Literature and Media Communications. She is also a Trustee of Citizens Advice Cornwall, where she leads on research and campaigns.
